OMITB: Stream Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It Song

Steve Martin's "Pickwick Triplets" Song From "OMITB" Is an Absolute Banger

Any artists hoping to win song of the year at the 2024 Grammys should probably just quit while they're ahead; Steve Martin's "Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" is the clear frontrunner in my eyes. Martin flawlessly performs the catchy patter song in episode eight of Disney+'s "Only Murders in the Building" season three, and fans everywhere — myself included — have had it stuck in their heads ever since. Over the past few days, I've found myself reciting the lyrics under my breath while showering, cooking, running errands, commuting, and even falling asleep. (Sorry to my roommates.) It's lodged in the depths of my brain, and I'm not one bit mad about it.

Watching Martin belt out the "Pickwick Triplets" song is pure joy from start to finish. After his character, Charles-Haden Savage, flubs a prior rehearsal due to nerves, he takes to the Gooseberry Theatre stage with an orchestra in tow and makes the fast-paced, tongue-tying tune his b*tch. The rest of the "Death Razzle Dazzle" cast look on in astonishment, half expecting him to crack under pressure, but he perseveres, delivering a Broadway-worthy spectacle I'd pay to witness in person. Not only does the track deserve a Grammy, but Martin also deserves (another) Emmy nomination for the impassioned performance. The sheer amount of social media buzz about the song validates my case.

"Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" isn't the only banger featured in the latest season of "Only Murders in the Building." In the third episode, Meryl Streep and Ashley Park team up on "Look For the Light," a moving ballad and original song written by Sara Bareilles for the show. The duet could be used in a Harmonising 101 music class — their vocals mesh that beautifully.

The show has heeded fans' requests and released both standout songs from season three on all major music streaming platforms so we can hit the replay button to our hearts' content. But that's not all — a deluxe soundtrack album is also dropping on 4 Oct., featuring "Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" and "Look For the Light," along with the cast's "Creatures of the Night" rendition and the entire original score. I just might change my alarm tone, 'cause nothing will wake me from my slumber like a "Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" sing-along.

If the "Only Murders in the Building" soundtrack is your new personality, I've included videos of both Martin's and Streep's performances ahead for your rewatching pleasure. The 4 Oct. can't come soon enough.

"Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" Song Lyrics

Three little babes in their bassinets.
Angelic little triplets?
Or triple-threats?

They might have fooled the others, but they won't fool me.
It's time to give these thieving scheming three
The third degree.

Which of the Pickwick triplets did it?
Who of the crew could commit this crime?
Might a little brat, make a mommy go splat?
It's a story pretty gory for a nursery rhyme.

Which of the Pickwick triplets did it?
Which of the spawn had the brawn to kill?
Will a baby get tried for matricide?
Coochi-coochi-coo, time for you or you or you, to admit it.
So quick as a whip gotta pick which Pickwick triplet did it.

Penelope in pink sure is making quite a stink,
Is she trying to throw me off the scent?
Though she bats her little eyes is she a killer in disguise
With a nappy full of criminal intent?

Preening Patrick is pernicious with an appetite so vicious
He would bite the hand that feeds him with a sneer.
But could that rotten tot be behind this evil plot,
Baby-stepping towards a murderous career?

Pouty little Paco's looking coy but he's a bad, bad boy,
Could Paco's passion prove apocalyptic?
With his paci and his rattle did this pisher go to battle
Proving he's the perp amidst this Pickwick triptych?

In this picaresque puzzle of the Pickwick pack
Will a lighthouse shed some light
On which kid gave old mom a whack?
There's an infant to indict.
I'll book this little crook tonight.
But . . .

Which of the Pickwick triplets did it?
Who of the crew would commit this crime?
Which little brat, made mommy go splat?
Which Pickwick sib will be doing hard time?

Which of the Pickwick triplets did it?
Which little putz had the guts to kill?
Like a forensic pediatrician I'll complete this inquisition,
I will name the neonatal from the cradle that proved fatal,
I will find the perpetrator who did murder to their mater . . .

Or coochi-coochi-coo,
What if none of it is true?
Has my inspection been too cursory?
Should I look outside this nursery?
What if none of the Pickwick Triplets did it?
Who'd have had a menacing motive and hid it?
Who? Who? Who?
Well
I
Pick
You!

You can listen to "Look For the Light" on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. I've included the lyrics below so you can imitate Streep and Park during your next shower singing sesh.

"Look For the Light" Song Lyrics
Hush, little one, let me sing you to sleep.
Moonlight has come, now drift off to a dream.
Sail from the day to the wonders awaiting you out there
In the deep.
Off little one, chase the wind on the waves.
Adventure is calling, so go and be brave.
But if you get lost as you're tossed in the dark of the sea,
Look for me.

I will wait at the shore for you.
I will, weather each storm.
Standing by 'til
Safe you return from the night.

My love is a lighthouse.
So, darling, my darling
Look for the light.
The light.

I will wait at the shore for you.
I will, weather each storm.
Standing by 'til
Safe you return from the night.

My love is a lighthouse.
So, darling, my darling,
Look for the light.
