6 Answers We Absolutely Need From the Lizzie McGuire Comeback

11/11/2019 - 05:10 PM

Hey now, hey now! This is what dreams are made of. Yes, the teenage dream that is Lizzie McGuire will be returning to our screens once again. News of the series reboot [1] hit back in August with an official announcement at Disney+'s D23 Expo event. Since then, whispers and rumours surrounding the details [2] of the show have trickled our way.

While there's no word yet on when the show will be released, the Disney+ platform launches Nov. 12 in the US and in 2020 in the UK. So far, we know that Lizzie (Hillary Duff) will be living in Brooklyn, NY, and working as an assistant to a decorator. But, we need to know more! Here are six questions we demand answers to. Pronto.

Did Lizzie and Gordo Ever Date?

Gordo (Adam Lamberg) was sadly friend-zoned early on in the Lizzie McGuire series. However, at the end of the show's 2003 movie, the geeky best friend and Lizzie share a stolen kiss on a rooftop. So freakin' romantic, right?

So, what happened next? In an interview with Vulture, Duff revealed that Lizzie will be engaged in the series reboot [3]. But not to Gordo. That's certain to come as a huge blow to fans who shipped the unlikely couple. Still, perhaps we'll get some details of what happened after that all-important kiss. Did they date? What went wrong? Tell us all!

Will Lanny Speak Up?

Lanny (Christian Copelin) [4] was Matt McGuire's (Jake Thomas) best friend on the show. As enigmatic as he was mischievous, the character never once uttered a single word on screen. Nope, not a peep! While there's been no word on whether Copelin is joining the reboot, we can hope we'll see his face again. After all, it'd be a real treat for fans to hear Lanny's voice at long last.

Is Miranda Back From Mexico City?

Remember Lizzie's best friend Miranda (Lalaine Vergara-Paras)? Towards the end of the series, the character appeared less in the show and was not featured in the movie. While controversy behind the scenes may have caused these absences, they were explained on the show by her vacationing in Mexico City.

The question is: Will Miranda be back from vacay when the reboot airs? Some key cast members have already been announced but, unfortunately, there's been no mention of Vergara-Paras yet. Fingers crossed that the sassy bestie will be a part of the new series!

Will Lizzie and Her Mom Be BFFs?

Let's be real — Lizzie and her mum had some serious BFF potential. Jo McGuire (Hallie Todd) was an all-around cool parent, offering advice and a whole lotta support. While she may have made her daughter cringe now and then, the two had a good relationship.

We already know that Todd will be a part of the reboot, which begs the question: Will the two characters be besties now that Lizzie is an adult? We're hoping for some Gilmore Girls [5]-esque chats from this mother-daughter duo.

Will Lizzie’s Fashion Sense Be on Point?

Somebody has to say it. Lizzie was an early-2000s fashion icon. Her quirky, bizarre, and unique dress sense was hard to ignore from episode one. From rockin' bandanas and colourful shirts to crimped hair and denim jackets, the teen character had it all.

A decade and a half later, will the star of the show still have an eye for style? We can't wait to see what outfits Lizzie has in store for us when the reboot comes around. Tie-dye dresses? A little double-denim? Watch this space!

Will Lizzie’s Cartoon Alter-Ego Be Returning?

During the original Disney Channel series, Lizzie's alter-ego took centre stage. Sharing the lead character's inner-most thoughts, the flamboyant cartoon added a new dimension to the show. So, when the reboot comes around, will the alter-ego return? And, if so, will she have grown up too? Will she be different? More mature? So. Many. Questions.
