Watch the Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella Cast Reunion

The Cast of Cinderella Reminisced About the Film's Legacy During a Magical Reunion

You're cordially invited to enjoy this adorable cast reunion of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. In honour of the 1997 film finally being available to stream on Disney+, stars Brandy (Cinderella), Paolo Montalban (Prince Christopher), Whoopi Goldberg (Queen Constantina), Victor Garber (King Maximillian), Jason Alexander (Lionel), Bernadette Peters (Stepmother), and Veanne Cox (Calliope) reminisced about the movie with Entertainment Weekly.

"It was an honour to be part of something so wonderful back then," Peters said. "And even now, children that were watching it could just enjoy it, and all the different kinds of people that were in it, and not even question it. Just enjoy it." Speaking to the film's multicultural cast, Goldberg added, "We were Hamilton before Hamilton," to which Brandy quipped, "I love that she can say everything that we want to say."

In addition to reflecting on the film's legacy, the cast also took a moment to honour their late costars Whitney Houston and Natalie Desselle-Reid, who played fairy godmother and Minerva, respectively. "A lot of this came from the heart and soul of Whitney. I know that a lot of what you're seeing is what she wanted," Goldberg said. In addition to starring and executive producing the project, Whitney also hand-picked Brandy to star as Cinderella. "For her to consider me for the role, it just was unbelievable because I spent my whole childhood wanting to sing and nobody could have told me in a million years I would be working with her," Brandy said about working with Houston.

Cox also spoke about the special bond she shared with her onscreen stepsister, Desselle-Reid, adding, "I met her in the audition. We went into the audition room together and we fell in love from the moment we met. And it was, there was never a challenge with her to make something funny. She was this naturally hilarious human being, both onscreen and off."

Watch the entire reunion above, and be sure to relieve the magic of the film when it hits Disney+ on Feb. 12.
