The next celebrity edition of the "Great British Bake Off" might have an extra dose of star power behind it. On 23 June, Ryan Reynolds [3] shared a photo of himself standing in front of the show's iconic white tent with his arms around judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith on Instagram [4] He captioned the wholesome snap, "A full and unconditional hug of pure serotonin."
Reynolds wasn't the only star spotted on the show's set. Hollywood also shared a pic [5] of the "Deadpool" [6] actor's wife, Blake Lively [7], sitting with him in cake corner, where he and Prue discuss the contestants' bakes (Lively once earned a virtual handshake [8] from Hollywood, so she's basically a judge already). "Sorry Prue, Blake (@blakelively) has taken your seat… welcome to cake corner Blake," he wrote. Hollywood also reshared Reynolds's Instagram photo [9] alongside the caption, "Prue and I catching up with @vancityreynolds."
At this stage, it's unclear whether or not Reynolds and Lively were simply enjoying a tour of the tent, or if they'll make an appearance on an upcoming episode of the series. Each year, Channel 4 films a "Great Celebrity Bake Off" as part of its Stand Up to Cancer initiative [10], so could we expect a Reynolds-Lively competition this year? POPSUGAR reached out to Channel 4 in regards to Reynolds and Lively's visit, but did not receive an immediate response.
If Reynolds and Lively do end up appearing on the "Great British Bake Off" they would be following in the footsteps of fellow celebrity participants like James McAvoy [11], Daisy Ridley, and David Schwimmer.
Reynolds and his family [13] have been spending lots of time in the UK since he and Rob McElhenney purchased the Wrexham football club, so surely it's only a matter of time before new GBBO host, Alison Hammond [14], and Noel Fielding get to work their innuendos on the couple.
