Sandi Toksvig has quit The Great British Bake Off, where she worked as a presenter with Noel Fielding. The pair replaced Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc when it was announced that the show was moving from BBC 1 to Channel 4 in 2016.
"When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family. Unusually, I am departing from The Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work," the TV presenter said in a press release on her Twitter. Unsurprisingly, Sandi will leave the Bake Off tent with fond memories. "Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel has been one of the great pleasures of my life. These are friendships which I know will continue beyond the confines of television." True to Sandi's nature, she joked, "as my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show."
Channel 4 is yet to announce who will replace Sandi as copresenter with Noel, but here's hoping they bring as many silly jokes and as much warmth as she did in her three years on the show.
