Dan and Eugene Levy Preach Love While Accepting Historic Emmy Win For Schitt's Creek

Did the Schitt's Creek cast have a big night at the Emmys or what? On Sept. 20, the beloved crew enjoyed a #SchittsSweep, taking home awards in all of the major comedy categories. With nine total wins for a single season, the series broke the previous record of eight awards held by Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in 2018 and 2019. The honour for outstanding comedy series sealed the historic deal, as Dan and Eugene Levy took the podium at their private Emmys party in Toronto to accept the trophy. Dan was first to speak, emphasising the show's message of love and support and encourageing viewers to get out and vote. "I wanted to say, for any of you who have not registered to vote, please do so and then go out and vote because that is the only way that we are going to have some love and acceptance out there," he said.

Eugene then stepped up to express his gratitude for the cast and crew, namely Dan. "I also want to thank, once again, this young man who took our fish-out-of-water story about the Rose family and transformed it into a celebration of inclusivity, a castigation of homophobia, and a declaration of the power of love."
