Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman Appear in Action-Packed "Secret Invasion" Trailer

"Secret Invasion" has a stacked cast, with Samuel L. Jackson returning to portray Nick Fury, former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., or the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division. It also stars Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, the leader of a Skrull sect; Smulders as Maria Hill, an ally of Fury; Martin Freeman as CIA agent Everett K. Ross; Don Cheadle as U.S. Air Force officer and Avenger James "Rhodey" Rhodes, also known as War Machine; and Kingsley Ben-Adir as the series' main antagonist. Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman also appear, though their roles are being kept under wraps.

"Secret Invasion" tells the story of the Skrulls, a group of shapeshifting aliens who invade Earth, often disguising themselves as humans. It follows Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, who returns to Earth to deal with a new, likely Skrull-related problem.

"Secret Invasion" will be released in spring 2023, as per an announcement made by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at SDCC.

While the "Secret Invasion" trailer has not been unveiled to the public yet, those who were at San Diego Comic-Con have shared some details about it. According to Collider, the trailer starts out with Fury returning to Earth and meeting Smulders' character, who has apparently been trying to reach him for years, in a bar. Fury says that there was "an issue that needed his attention" and required him to return, per the outlet.

From there, the trailer veers into an intense montage. At one point, Colman reportedly warns Fury that he is "in no shape for this," according to Deadline. In another shot, Fury sits next to Cheadle's James Rhodes, who ominously asks, "How much do you know about your security detail?"
