It's official! A Sex and the City [1] revival is coming to the UK in December! The 10-episode HBO Max series titled And Just Like That... was first announced back in January 2021, but we didn't have any details on when and how we would be able to watch it here in the UK, until now.
The nostalgic '90s show will return for a limited series [2], with Michael Patrick King as executive producer once again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot will follow Charlotte, Carrie, and Miranda as they navigate life in the city as women in their 50s.
Sadly, Kim Cattrall [3], who famously played Samantha, will not be returning [4],a fact that Parker confirmed when replying to a fan's comment [5] about their rumoured feud. "No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would," the actress stated. "Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do."
Over the years, Cattrall has made her opinions about the franchise well known. After plans for a third Sex and the City film were scrapped in 2017, Cattrall expressed that she has no interest in playing Samantha again. "Me playing her, that I can assure you will never happen," she said. "For me it's over, it's over with no regrets." She added: "I've moved on, this is what my 60s are about, they're about me making decisions for me, not my career, for me. And that feels frickin' fantastic." How will the famous NYC crew function as a trio instead of a quartet? We'll have to wait and see.
The limited series will premiere in both the US and the UK in December, with Brits being able to watch it on Sky Comedy and NOW TV [6], where you can also catch all of the six original seasons of Sex and the City. In the meantime, you can watch the teaser trailer below.
