Are the Spice Girls Reuniting?

Emma Bunton Hints at Spice Girls Reunion: "It's Just About Getting the Right Timing"

Stop right now, thank you very much. It's been 11 years since all five of the Spice Girls graced the stage together at the 2012 London Olympic closing ceremony, before four members (minus Victoria Beckham who was focusing on her fashion brand) embarked on a hugely successful Spice World tour in 2019. Now in news that we've all been waiting to hear, there may well be a reunion of all the original band members on the way. Yes, Posh Spice included.

Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, appeared on ITV's "This Morning" on 13 June and hinted that the girl group have been in talks about another tour. "It's something we always talk about. When I go out with my girlfriends, when I'm out with Jade [Jones], the kids keep asking me as well," she said. "It is something that us, as Spice Girls, talk about a lot, but you know, now having children, it's just about getting the right timing, but it would be lovely to do." We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but that sounds like an "when" rather than "if".

Bunton's revelations have certainly added to the rumour mill as Mel B had recently spoke about a Spice Girls get-together in The Sun on 25 May, in which she claimed that Beckham was on board for a reunion project. She told the outlet: "My theory is that if I say it enough, it will happen. But actually we are planning on releasing a statement."

Although it's not yet clear what the upcoming project will consist of, Mel B has hinted that it's set to be big. "What that is, I can't say right now because we're just finishing off perfecting what we're going to be doing together, all five of us," she said. "But it's going to be something that the fans are really going to love." Representatives for the Spice Girls did not respond immediately to POPSUGAR's request for comment.

Bunton may have even gave some clues on Instagram on 24 May as she shared a throwback video of the group performing in Dublin in 2019 on their last reunion tour. In what appeared to be a soft-launch of their alleged reunion, the singer wrote: "Can't believe it's been four years since we kicked off #Spiceworld2019 in Dublin! It was such a special night 💕💕💕 Thanks to everyone that came along to the tour and sang and danced with us! Let's do it again!!"

The five-piece band have showcased their closeness over the years — "Friendship never ends", after all. Four of the five members partied together for Geri Horner's 50th birthday last year, and Beckham has certainly been spotted warming up those vocal chords with a bit of Spice Girls karaoke. Is it too much of a stretch to think another tour could be happening? Or a comeback show? At the very least, a commemorative tshirt?

Despite the band being the best-selling women's group of all time, Mel B also revealed that they've been planning their reunion project via "a group WhatsApp". It's also a method of communication that boyband One Direction have been using as reunion rumours surround them, too. Whatever the Spice Girls have in the works, we "Wannabe" there.
