The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run Trailer

No, You're Not Tripping: That's Really Keanu Reeves in the SpongeBob Movie Trailer

Everyone's favourite underwater sponge is gearing up for his third adventure on the big screen, and it's a visual trip. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run follows the titular sponge as he teams up with Patrick to find his beloved pet Gary. According to SpongeBob, the stoic snail has been "snailnapped" and taken to the gambling haven of the Lost City of Atlantic City. Considering how these adventures generally go, we wouldn't be surprised if Gary just needed a holiday from his overzealous roommate.

In typical SpongeBob and Patrick fashion, the two get derailed on their journey and, at one point, run into some tumbleweed with the face of Keanu Reeves. Yes, you read that right, the two get some sage advice from tumbleweed with the face of Keanu Reeves in the same vein as their meeting with David Hasseloff in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.

"Hello. Call me Sage," Tumbleweed Keanu greets the two in the trailer. "I'm made out of sage and I am a sage, so it works out pretty well."

Patrick responds by explaining that his name means toaster in Celtic, so it's all pretty much the standard fare of bonkers all around. Watch the trailer above and catch up with the whole gang (Tom Kenny, Awkwafina, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Douglas Lawrence, and Reggie Watts all lend their voices to the feature) when Sponge on the Run releases on May 22.
