Listen to Stormzy Reading Twas The Night Before Christmas

Stormzy Is Officially the Soundtrack to Christmas Eve After This Poetry Reading

There are few things guaranteed to bring you more festive cheer than watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate, but Stormzy reading the ever popular "Twas The Night Before Christmas" poem on BBC Radio 1 is definitely up there. The grime artist, known for singles like "Own It" and "Vossi Bop", appeared on Radio 1 this week on their breakfast show with Greg James, and the result is actual Christmas magic.

Reciting the famous poem by Clement Clarke Moore in his incredibly soothing voice, Stormzy is proof that we've needed a new iteration of this Christmas favourite for a lot longer than we realised. The poem was first published anonymously in 1823 before being attributed to Clarke Moore in 1837, after he claimed ownership. Less than a minute into reading the poem, Stormzy stops whilst reciting the reindeer names as he questions "Wait, is that their names? Donner? Donner the reindeer?"

And it doesn't end there, he genuinely cannot believe that Santa would ever name his reindeer after the much-loved kebab meat. Now that we think about it, Donner is a pretty strange name for a reindeer . . .
