When Taylor Swift [1]'s Folklore album dropped, I was just as excited to listen to the entire tracklist as I was to hear all of the inevitably amazing covers inspired by the release, and the Swiftie fandom has not disappointed. In a video shared to his band's YouTube channel, Luke Gittins from English rockband Burbank performed a hauntingly beautiful piano cover of Swift's "Exile" featuring Bon Iver. In the same vein as Swift's entire Folklore album [2], the magical cover evokes mental images of old home movie reels and sepia fields of flowers, setting the mood for a cosy evening curled up on the couch with a cup of piping hot tea.
If you ask me, this is the kind of cover that deserves to play over the end credits of the most heartbreaking rom-com movie (tissues required, of course). Take a listen for yourself here, and check out this mashup of Swift's "Betty" and "All Too Well" [3] while you're at it.
