The White Lotus Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Cast

We're Heading to Italy For "The White Lotus" Season 2

Pack your bags, we're going to Sicily! After bidding guests and fans adieu in that jaw-dropping season one finale of "The White Lotus," season two is almost here.

This series will bring a host of new changes (a new cast and resort location included), but one thing is certain: Jennifer Coolidge and her one-liners aren't going anywhere. Deadline was the first to report of Coolidge's return in October 2021. "I just did five months on it ["The White Lotus"] in Sicily. I got back like two weeks ago," Coolidge told "The New York Times" recently in a July interview. "I've been instructed that I'm not allowed to leak anything, but I have to say, from what I've witnessed, watching what some of the new actors are doing, people will not be disappointed."

From this season's alluring characters to the titular Sicilian resort they'll be calling home, read on to see what you should know about the dark comedy's second season.

While there's no official trailer for "Whe White Lotus" season two, on 18 July, HBO dropped a sizzle reel for its upcoming slate of new programming that teased a few scenes from the new season. Check it out here.

Season two's plot description has yet to be announced, but it'll follow the same dark holiday premise with a tribe of new holidaygoers checking into an exquisite resort in Sicily. Of those new guests will be a family trio, a husband and wife travelling with friends (possibly a couples trip?), a co-worker duo, one of whom is pregnant, a few British travellers, and more.

As an anthology series, "The White Lotus" season two cast will consist of almost entirely fresh faces — apart from Coolidge and Jon Gries, of course. Their characters — presumably Tanya and Greg, respectively, from season one — are seen riding on a Vespa in HBO Max's sizzle reel.

HBO has tapped Aubrey Plaza and Michael Imperioli as season two leads. Plaza will play Harper Spiller, a woman holidaying with her husband (Will Sharpe) and his friends (Theo James and Meghann Fahy). Their group will befriend Imperioli's character, Dominic, who is embarking on a family trip with his elderly father (F. Murray Abraham) and adult son (Albie DiMarco). Other cast members include Haley Lu Richardson, Tom Hollander, and Leo Woodall.

In the dark comedy's second instalment, guests will be staying at an ultra-luxe White Lotus resort in Sicily, Italy. The season was reportedly filmed at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily. The resort features several restaurants, an infinity pool, and a spa with aromatherapy services, and boasts views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. Celebrities like Audrey Hepburn and Oscar Wilde have been known to holiday there. While HBO has yet to confirm the exact filming location, its coming soon teaser did confirm the setting, and Variety reported that this particular resort was closed to guests for the early part of the year. So, it adds up.

According to Variety, there will be seven episodes in "The White Lotus" season two. If this season follows its predecessor, then episodes will clock in at around one hour with new episodes dropping weekly.
