Thor: Love and Thunder [1] is gearing up to be one of the most anticipated movies in Marvel's fourth phase [2]. Not only will we see the return of favourites like Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), but we'll also be introduced to some new personas. Back in July, it was announced that Natalie Portman [3], who plays scientist Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies, will reprise her role and take up the hammer as the first onscreen female Thor [4].
And there's even more exciting news. On March 6, Entertainment Tonight revealed that Christian Bale will be the big bad [5] in Thor: Love and Thunder. "Christian Bale [6] is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic," Thompson told the outlet. "I've read the script. I can't tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie and I. We're going to have fun. Taika is writing [and] directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix."

Hemsworth is returning as the loveable God of Thunder.
Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Thor
After her absence in Thor: Ragnarok [8], Portman will return as Jane and become the first-ever onscreen female Thor.
Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie
Thompson is reprising her role as the strong, fearless Valkyrie, who is now the leader of Asgard. And as Marvel's first LGBTQ+ superhero [9], she'll be referred to as "King Valkyrie." In March, Thompson told Entertainment Tonight [10], "If she can't find her queen, she'll just be king and queen at the same time."
Taika Waititi as the Voice of Korg
Don't worry, folks. Waititi is coming back to voice Korg [11], our favourite Kronan.
Christian Bale as an Undisclosed Villain
We don't know which Marvel villain Bale is going to portray yet, but we're anxiously awaiting confirmation.
