Tiger King: Where Are the Cast Now? | 2021

Here's What Everyone From Tiger King Season 1 Is Up to Now

Tiger King was a breakout hit for Netflix in 2020. The controversial show took viewers inside the life of Joe Exotic, a big-cat fanatic who ran a zoo in Oklahoma. But aside from just showing his life with the animals, the show also gave an inside look at his wild life — including multiple husbands, animal trafficking, and murder for hire. The show was so popular, in fact, that it's back for a second season premiering Nov. 17. Before we get all the dirty details on what's currently happening with the main players from the big-cat world through season two, find out what everyone has been up to since the first season aired last year.

Where Is Joe Exotic from Tiger King Now?

You'll recall that at the end of Tiger King season one, we learn Joe Exotic, aka Joseph Maldonado-Passage, was sentenced to 22 years in prison on charges of hiring someone to kill his rival big cat owner Carole Baskin, as well as charges on other animal abuse crimes, according to USA Today. However, in July, the court shortened his sentence to 17 years, saying the original case was mishandled. He requested a presidential pardon, but alas, he's still in prison. Since he was sentenced to prison in January 2020, he will probably stay there until around 2037.

Carole Baskin remains the head of Big Cat Rescue in Florida. After Tiger King, she appeared on season 29 of Dancing With the Stars, but was eliminated in the third week of the competition. She's been outspoken about Netflix's show since it aired, writing a post on her blog about how "disappointing" the show was, twisting it into something salacious — especially the disappearance of her previous husband, Don Lewis. And speaking of that, thanks to the show, Lewis' family has teamed up with a well-respected lawyer to look into Lewis's disappearance, according to TMZ.

Joe Exotic's most recent husband, Dillon Passage, seemed committed to Exotic when season one of Tiger King ended and when Exotic went to prison. However, in March 2021, Passage announced on Instagram that he and Exotic had decided to get a divorce. He wrote, "Joe and I are seeking a divorce. This wasn't an easy decision to make, but Joe and I both understand that this situation isn't fair to either of us. It's something that neither of us were expecting, but we are going to take it day by day. We are on good terms still, and I hope it can stay that way." Shortly after, in July 2021, Passage revealed he was dating a new man.

John Finlay told The Sun in May 2021 that his wedding to Joe Exotic — which was seen on season one of the show — was fake. He said, "The fake [wedding] was basically a publicity stunt so Joe could get his own reality TV series." He married a woman named Stormey in 2020 and told The Sun that he had "never felt this way about anyone before." The two still appear to be together and happy based on Finlay's Facebook.

Through a brief glimpse at Tim Stark on Tiger King, viewers learned of Stark's history with exotic animals in his home state of Indiana.
