Already Finished Too Hot to Handle? Here Are the 14 Shows You Should Watch Next

21/04/2020 - 09:15 PM

Netflix already had a reputation for A+ rom-coms [1] and true-crime documentaries [2], but 2020 has introduced the streaming service's new specialty: reality dating and social-experiment series [3]. This year, Netflix has gifted us with The Circle, Love Is Blind [4], and — our latest obsession — Too Hot to Handle [5], and fans are eager for more. Too Hot to Handle revolves around a group of hot, young, commitment-fearing singles living in paradise together, but there's a catch: they can't engage in any kind of physical intimacy. (Spoiler alert: that rule is broken. A lot.)

If you already binged the series in one weekend, fear not, because there are plenty of shows like it available to stream right now. Check out the bio for shows that will give you major Too Hot to Handle vibes.

Love Is Blind

This reality dating series, which is hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, follows five couples as they get to know one another while spending 10 days in their own personal "pods" — without ever coming face to face until after they've proposed. Like Too Hot to Handle, it encourages singles to get acquainted without any sexual contact, though the participants on Love Is Blind [7] can neither touch nor see one another before making a serious commitment.

The Circle

This reality competition series places a group of strangers in the same apartment building (but different apartments), and without ever meeting, the contestants will communicate solely through social media and decide who has cultivated the best online persona. The show's AI system, the Circle, will definitely remind you of Too Hot to Handle's omnipresent Lana (and Michelle Buteau's voice-over narration is just as funny as Desiree Burch's commentary in Too Hot to Handle).

The Circle Brazil

If you've already binged season one of The Circle, you're in luck, because Brazil has their own version of the series. In our opinion, IG influencer Lorayne Oliver could totally give Too Hot to Handle's queen bee Francesca Farago a run for her money.

The Circle France

There's yet another version of The Circle on Netflix that takes place in France. Something tells us that model Lou Baudry would have faired much better on Too Hot to Handle than she did on this series.

The Bachelor, Season 1

If you've never watched the first season of The Bachelor [12], then now is the time. The season that started it all is available to stream on Netflix, with 25 hot singles striving to win the heart of Bachelor Alex Michel. Warning: 2002 was not a great year for fashion (but that just makes this season all the more entertaining).

Vanderpump Rules

Though the stars of Vanderpump Rules spend their time working in a West Hollywood restaurant rather than lounging in a Mexican resort, they devote just as much of their time partying (and sleeping) with one another. There's a reason why the restaurant is named Sexy Unique Restaurant: the employees are all uniquely sexy.

Jersey Shore

What happens when a group of hard-partying 20-somethings spend the summer together in a Seaside Heights beach house? A lot of beaching, a lot of tanning, and a lot of sex. FYI, this crew's definition of "grenade" is very different than Too Hot to Handle's definition.

The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart

In this Bachelor spinoff, single men and women (all of whom are musicians or people who work in music) live together and go on music-themed dates with each other in the hope of finding their duet partner for life. These contestants have just a bit more talent than Too Hot to Handle's Bryce Hirschberg, whose own musical performance was . . . uncomfy.

Love Island (UK)

This British dating reality series revolves around a group of 10 hot singles living together in a remote villa in Mallorca, Spain (though season six changes locations to South Africa). New Islanders are introduced along the way, and Islanders who fail to couple up get voted off each week. Basically, if the singles on Too Hot to Handle were allowed to engage in all the sexual contact they wanted, then the result would be Love Island.

Love Island: Australia

Australia has its own version of the scandalous reality series, with season one taking place in the same Mallorca villa and season two in Fiji. Don't worry — the Aussies stir up just as much trouble as the Brits do in paradise.

Love Island (USA)

The US recently introduced its own Love Island spinoff, which revolves around 10 hot singles living together and hooking up in a private Fiji villa. Though we'll have to wait until May for season two [19] to premiere on CBS, the first season is available to stream for free on Amazon Prime with CBS All Access.

Siesta Key, Season 1

This MTV reality series (which is produced by the same team behind Laguna Beach) follows a group of besties as they spend the summer living together on the island of Siesta Key, FL. You can expect to see just as many bikinis and love triangles as Too Hot to Handle, and season one is available to stream for free on Amazon Prime with MTV Hits.

Floribama Shore, Season 1

Similar to Jersey Shore, Floribama Shore revolves around eight party-loving 20-somethings who want to delay adulthood just a bit longer with a summer spent in Panama City Beach on the Gulf Coast. Is it original? No. Does that make it any less enjoyable? Not a chance.
