Think the Swedes From The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Look Familiar? You're Not Alone

To do her bidding during season two of The Umbrella Academy [1], The Handler (Kate Walsh [2]) enlists the help of a group of assassin brothers called The Swedes. [3] The brothers — Axel (Kris Holden-Ried), Otto (Jason Bryden), and Oscar (Tom Sinclair) — don't speak much and what little they do speak is Swedish. However, the actors who portray the brothers, Holden-Reid, Bryden, and Sinclair aren't actually Swedish . . . they're Canadian. If you think they look familiar, that's because they've been on some well-known shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation [4] and Psych [5]. Kris Holden-Ried, aka Axel on The Umbrella Academy

Kris Holden-Ried is a Canadian actor best known for his roles as William Compton on The Tudors, Dyson on Lost Girl, Eyvind/Dom on Vikings, and Tracker Cameron on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Yep, he played the older brother and former guardian of Sean Cameron!

Jason Bryden, aka Otto on The Umbrella Academy

Not only is Jason Bryden an actor, he's a stand-up comedian (which is fitting due to the interesting exchange between The Handler and Otto in the sauna). Bryden had recurring roles as Mr. Jazz on The Staff Room and as Dave on Sports Talk Radio. He also had roles on Psych, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, and Murdoch Mysteries.

Tom Sinclair, aka Oscar on The Umbrella Academy

Tom Sinclair is the son of Gord Sinclair [8], bassist of The Tragically Hip. His professional acting résumé isn't that long — outside of The Umbrella Academy [9] he last played Pte. Matheson in 21 Brothers and will be playing Lazarus in the upcoming thriller Serpetine. Sinclair is also a writer and musician, having written Serpetine and served as a composer for additional music for the 21 Brothers.
