WandaVision: The Latest End-Credits Scene Spells Big Trouble For the Scarlet Witch

26/02/2021 - 06:15 PM

Of course, Marvel wasn't going to let a series go by without teasing viewers with some end credits! Although the first six episodes of WandaVision [1] went by without any extra scenes, the final half of the (currently) limited series [2] delivers a little something extra with each new episode. Unlike the end-credit scenes from the movies, these aren't used as mysterious tools to hype up another film. These scenes are building up the excitement for the current story [3] while revealing new information. And there's much to theorize with these additional scenes! Keep reading for a refresher on each end-credit scene and our ideas on what they mean.

WandaVision Episode 7 End-Credits Scene

After Agnes interrupts Monica's confrontation with Wanda, the S.W.O.R.D. agent gone rogue is seen poking around the (then-revealed) witch's yard. She spots the door to the storm cellar and, despite being in this very predicament because she charged into a situation without thinking it through, opens it. We don't see very far into the basement, but we can see roots along the walls and a purple glow emanating from inside. Before Monica can investigate further, she's surprised by Evan Peter's "Fietro," as Agatha calls him in episode eight, who hasn't been around since Wanda blasted him during the Halloween [5] events in episode six. Pietro tells Monica that "snoopers gonna snoop" as a purple glow takes over her eyes.

Since we know Pietro is Agatha's stooge, we can only assume he's been guarding her house. The obvious theory is that he'll bring Monica to the witch for trespassing, which will lead to some kind of confrontation. But even with her new abilities [6], Monica isn't ready to go up against a witch like Agatha. That's a duel better suited for Wanda. And there's still Hayward to contend with . . . maybe that's who Monica will be dealing with at the end.

WandaVision Episode 8 End-Credits Scene

Episode eight takes viewers on a flashback adventure through Wanda's past and explains how the former Avenger created the Hex around Westview. In the final moments of the episode, she's squaring off against Agatha, who has her sons captive, magical ropes right around their necks. In the end-credits scene, we return outside the bubble, where S.W.O.R.D. Director Tyler Hayward stares at the Hex in apprehension. An agent calls him into the compound, where they show that the agency's plan was never to track and decommission [7] the Vision living with Wanda in Westview. In reality, Wanda had never taken Vision's body from S.W.O.R.D. headquarters — she made his new form entirely from her magic. The agency still has the synthezoid's real body and uses the remnants of Wanda's powers from episode five's spy drone to revive him.

The all-white version of Vision calls back to a similar arc in the comics where Vision was disassembled and rebooted and lost all his memories of his life but still fought alongside the Avengers. We can assume Hayward will use this Vision to battle Wanda and Vision inside the Hex, which could lead to a Vision vs. Vision battle. Which actually sounds amazing, to be honest!
