Little Simz's New Video For "Woman" Is a Powerful Anthem With Some Very Special Cameos

Little Simz' latest video "Woman" is part of a remarkable new era for the young rapper. Her previous release "Introvert" was a powerful track about race and oppression with an incredibly poignant video that set the scene for what was to come.

On 3 May, Simz released a teaser for the new video on Instagram. The video, directed by Natasha Duursma, featured a snapshot of the women featured in the song, along with a poignant voiceover in Punjabi which says "stand together with your sisters. Keep believing that everything within us is lit up fiercely. Beautiful, beloved sisters, light up. It's our time."

Today, Simz released the full self-directed video for the song, which features Cleo Sol and cameos from Joy Crookes, Jourdan Dunn, and Denai Moore. Alongside those inspiring women, the video sees Simz' family and friends making an appearance, all united in the name of sisterhood. On the song, Simz said that "I love it when I see women doing their thing and looking flawless; I'm
here for that! It's empowering, it's inspiring; I wanted to say thank you and I wanted to celebrate them."

The rapper's fourth studio album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, is set for release on 3 September 2021, and so far — if these two releases are anything to go by — it's clear that the project is going to be a very influential one. Little Simz is also set to perform at All Points East festival this year, along with Arlo Parks, Olivia Dean, and Jorja Smith.
