5 Ways to Keep the Sanditon Dream Alive — Whether We Get a Second Season or Not

28/01/2020 - 06:40 PM

When Sanditon drew to a close in October 2019, it left a hole in our period-drama-loving [1] lives that's been hard to fill. Although our dreams for a second season of ITV's Sanditon [2] seem to be as dashed as Sidney and Charlotte's budding romance, we can at least keep the love alive with five products that will help feed any megafan's appetite for all things Sidlotte. From the original unfinished Jane Austen story to the TV tie-in novelisation, DVD, soundtrack, and companion guide, keep reading to discover all the ways in which you can relive all things Sanditon over and over again — whether we get another season this year or not.

Sanditon by Jane Austen

Read the source material that Andrew Davies worked from for yourself with a copy of Sanditon [3] (£10), Jane Austen's actual unfinished novel. You'll also get Austen's fragment The Watsons and her early epistolary novel Lady Susan in this edition.

Sanditon ITV Novelisation

British writer and journalist Kate Riordan has penned Sanditon: Official ITV Tie-In Edition [4] (£6), the novelisation of the show. It's available as a paperback, Kindle, or audiobook.

And for those of us who aren't familiar with what a novelisation is, it's a novel that adapts the story of a work created for another medium, such as a film, TV series, comic book, or video game. So in this case, it's a novel based on a TV show that's based on the original book by Jane Austen.

The World of Sanditon Book

Step behind the scenes of the show with The World of Sanditon: The Official Companion to the ITV Series [5] (£14). Rather than focusing on the cast and TV series, though, it has lots of information about Jane Austen, the history of the seaside, and what life was like in the Regency period.

Sanditon Soundtrack

If you fell in love with the music on the show, you'll want to download the Sanditon Original Television Soundtrack [6] (£10). It has 17 tunes, composed by Ruth Barrett, including that catchy theme and the music Charlotte and Sidney danced to.

Sanditon DVD

If you're a fan — or know a fan — who still owns a DVD player, then it might be smart to snap up the Sanditon DVD [7] (£15). As well as all of the episodes, the DVD's special features include "A First Look", "The Adaptation With Andrew Davies", and "Regency Style and Production Design".
