What Is Apple TV+'s Truth Be Told TV Show About?

Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul Track Down a Murderer in Apple TV+'s Truth Be Told

What is Apple TV+'s Truth Be Told about? Well, upon watching the trailer for the upcoming crime drama, I can tell you it's about murder. And wrongful convictions. And rich people doing rich people things. And Octavia Spencer agreeing to play a true-crime podcaster and journalist named Poppy Parnell. (Poppy Parnell!) So, in other words, it's about a lot of things that I will happily be slamming play on when the show arrives on the new streaming network in December.

In the first trailer for the dark, twisted show, we're introduced to Poppy, whose series of investigative articles helped put teenage killer Warren Cave behind bars 18 years earlier. But now, older, wiser, and with a hit podcast, Poppy is starting to wonder if she put an innocent man in prison, and if so, how she can help get him out. The adult Warren, played by El Camino's Aaron Paul (with a voice way more gravely than usual), isn't too keen on forgiving her. With his help, though, Poppy just might be able to sift through family secrets and a tangled web of lies to figure out who really committed the grisly murder almost 20 years ago.

Truth Be Told premieres on Dec. 6 and also stars Lizzy Caplan, Mekhi Phifer, Tracie Thoms, and Ron Cephas Jones.
