What Is Netflix's Locke & Key About?

Something Wicked Lurks Behind Closed Doors in the Trailer For Netflix's Locke & Key

If you've ever wondered what it would be like if The Chronicles of Narnia and Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House had a love child, the streaming service's newest adaptation is the answer. Originally a bestselling graphic novel series helmed by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key follows the Lockes as they discover the supernatural legacy haunting their family after the mysterious death of their father.

According to the show's official description, the series takes place after Rendell Locke (The Alienist's Bill Heck) has been murdered and "the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father's death. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens — and will stop at nothing to steal them."

If you ever needed a reminder that you don't need to investigate everything that goes bump in the night, this is the show to do it. Described as a coming-of-age mystery "about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family," the series stars Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) as Nina Locke, Jackson Robert Scott (Fear the Walking Dead) as Bode Locke, Connor Jessup (American Crime) as Tyler Locke, and Emilia Jones (Doctor Who) as Kinsey Locke. Watch the mysterious trailer above, and get ready to unlock all kinds of magical doors when Locke & Key premieres globally on Friday, Feb. 7.
