Get ready: Altered Carbon [1] season two is coming to Netflix, and it's only a month away! Netflix announced the second season of the sci-fi thriller in a tweet [2] that reads, "Your re-sleeving is now complete," accompanied by a graphic of the show's logo shifting shape and colour. The official release date for season two is Feb. 27, and we can't wait to see what's coming next!

IGN revealed the official synopsis for season two [3], and it sounds like we're in for another twisty season:

"Season two... finds Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry). After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs finds himself recruited back to his home planet of Harlan's World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe (Chris Conner), Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?"

As you might have noticed, Joel Kinnaman, the show's leading man from season one, is no longer playing our protagonist Takeshi Kovacs. That's actually a plot point: at the end of the first season, Kovacs "returns" the physical body (or, in Altered Carbon parlance, the "sleeve") that he was inhabiting to its true owner, which means he has a new physical form in the new season. That form is Anthony Mackie [4], aka the potential new Captain America [5] and star of the upcoming Disney+ Marvel show [6] The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Other new cast members include Lela Loren as Danica Harlan, governor of Harlan's World; James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki, a centuries-old mob boss; Simone Missick as bounty hunter Trepp; and Dina Shihabi as the archaeology-oriented A.I. DIG 301.

Season two of Altered Carbon will have a total of eight episodes, two fewer than the first season's 10 episodes. All eight episodes will become available on Feb. 27 on Netflix.
