Lola Young is the Voice Behind John Lewis’ Christmas Ad

Who Is Lola Young? Meet the Brit School Alum Behind John Lewis’s Christmas Advert

John Lewis recently shared its highly anticipated Christmas advert, and there's one thing that everyone's been talking about: who is the wonderful voice behind this year's song? Well, Lola Young is her name, and she's an up-and-coming artist from South London. At just 20 years old, the singer bagged herself a spot in John Lewis' advert, with her glorious cover of "Together In Electric Dreams", a song originally by Phil Oakley and Giorgio Moroder and released in 1984.

Following much speculation about who the voice belonged to (a duo from Somerset, The Portraits, claimed that they approached the retailer with a similar cover of the song), Young shared the advert on Twitter, with a caption that read "So I'm singing on the @JohnLewisRetail Christmas advert . . . yuppp, u heard me lolll whattt? I'm covering Together In Electric Dreams, an all time classic. I grew up watching these and it never even crossed my mind i could be a part of one Thank u to everyone involved #unexpectedguest"

The Brit School alum cites names like Joni Mitchell, Anderson .Paak, and Prince as her musical influences, and when you listen to her music the influence is pretty clear. She started writing songs at the age of 11, and since then, her musical career has only flourished. In fact, this year, she's been named one of Amazon's artists to watch for 2022, alongside names like PinkPantheress, Priya Ragu, and Tems.
