It's been a wild ride during this season of The Bachelor, but even with all the drama and tears, there's one question that's been on our minds during the remaining handful of episodes: who's going to be the new Bachelorette? The newest leading lady is taking the crown from the last vivacious Bachelorette, Hannah Brown. Sadly, the Alabama native didn't get the happy ending she was hoping for with her final suitor, Jed Wyatt. But she picked herself right back up and swept Dancing With the Stars fans off their feet, landing herself the coveted Mirrorball Trophy in the end. She even took the time to visit Peter during the last season of The Bachelor! Now Clare's taking another chance at the game of love and we're crossing our fingers that she'll have better luck.

In a surprising change of tradition, Bachelor Nation received the good news early on Monday, March 2 during Good Morning America. Usually, the next Bachelor or Bachelorette is announced after the current season is over, generally because they're one of the final contestants and their identity would be a major spoiler. The few exceptions include Rachel Lindsay, who was announced before she even left Nick Viall's season. Clare's announcement was a surprise even for the new Bachelorette herself!
"I literally just found out," she admitted to the GMA hosts. "So unexpected, can you believe this? Six years later? What is happening?"
The 38-year-old hair stylist from Sacramento first appeared in 2014 as the runner-up during Juan Pablo Galavis's season of The Bachelor, then went on to feature on the first two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise and Bachelor Winter Games. The latter is where she met Benoit Beauséjour-Savard, who she was briefly engaged to before they called it quits in April 2018. Clare's selection also makes her the oldest Bachelorette in the franchise's history, dethroning Rachel who was 32 at the time of her filming.
"I feel like a lot of people put it out there as this negative thing. For me, it's just more years under my belt. More years learning and knowing what I want and what I won't settle for," Clare said about remarks on her age. "I want a man that will take off his armor. I want a man that is strong but is willing to take off the body armor, open themselves up and be vulnerable. I think that is some serious strength right there."
We're here for it, Clare! While fans had been hoping the franchise would use a new Bachelorette season to diversify the franchise, it's nice to see more leading women who aren't afraid to tell it like it is and weed out the bullsh*t. After all, we already know that Clare doesn't put up with nonsense!
