The Masked Singer: Breaking Down All Our Theories About Who Are Behind the Masks

The Masked Singer season four kicked off on Sept. 23, and the competition is super fierce this year. For the premiere, we were introduced to Group A, which included some impressive singers with some truly wacky costumes. Seriously, they have really outdone themselves this year. Of course, the best part of the show is trying to guess which celebrities are behind the masks. While the judges had a handful of smart guesses, we also have a few theories of our own. Keep reading for a breakdown of our thoughts as well as the first person who was unmasked below.

Who Is the Dragon on The Masked Singer Season 4?

  • The clues: In the clue video, the Dragon makes reference to wearing funky costumes. They also not that their fire was dangerous early in their career, but they learned to calm down later in life. At the end, there are a few glimpses of medals, trophies, and the Statue of Liberty.
  • Who it could be: Given all the medals, the most obvious guess is that the Dragon is an Olympian. While Ken Jeong threw out Michael Phelps's name, others guessed DMX because of the "X" and dog bone featured in the video as well as Busta Rhymes for the "dangerous" reference, which is a name of one of his songs.
  • Who it is: The Dragon is Busta Rhymes!

Who Is the Giraffe on The Masked Singer Season 4?

  • The clues: In the clue video, there were a lot of references to carnivals and their rollercoaster career. The Giraffe also noted that they eventually became the "butt of everyone's joke," which could be a reference to a comedian.
  • Who it could be: Honestly, we're pretty stumped about this one. While the judges guessed Travis Barker and Vanilla Ice, we have a feeling we're dealing with an athlete. After all, the Giraffe is the tallest costume the show has ever had. The character's outfit also has some major Hamilton vibes leading fans to believe it could be Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, or Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Who Is the Popcorn on The Masked Singer Season 4?

  • The clues: The clue video for the Popcorn featured a handful of references to NYC as well as Sex and the City. Maybe someone who made a cameo. There was also a shot of meatloaf, a gold fisher wearing big hoop earrings, and a Proud Merry-Go-Round.
  • Who it could be: Based on the "Proud Mary" reference, the judges guessed Tina Turner. However, like Nicole Scherzinger pointed out, the goldfish wearing hoops could be a reference to Mary J. Blige who often sports big earrings.

Who Are the Snow Owls on The Masked Singer Season 4?

  • The clues: The Snow Owls are a tough one to crack. Based on their clue video, and the small "oh brother" reference, it's possible that the two are brothers and sisters or played brothers and sisters once. There was also an interesting clue about decorating a house for Christmas. Maybe they starred in a holiday movie together?
  • Who it could be: Robin Thicke guessed husband-and-wife duo Amy Grant and Vince Gill since Amy is known for her her Christmas albums. Jenny McCarthy pointed out that the brother-sister reference could also be Donny and Marie Osmond, although Donny previously appeared on the show during season one. Another guess was Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara since there was a rose featured in the clue video, which could be a reference to their Schitt's Creek characters Johnny and Moira Rose. Other popular guesses are siblings Julianne and Derek Hough and couple Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks.

Who Is the Sun on The Masked Singer Season 4?

  • The clues: In the clue video, there was a shot of a gold member card as well as a leopard. They also talked about going through "extreme seasons" in their life and how they were once the centre of the universe before they got burned out. At one point, the earth and trees came together to make a Mickey Mouse logo. Maybe it's a former Disney star?
  • Who it could be: While some popular guesses from the judges were Demi Lovato and Katherine McPhee, we think it could be former Cheetah Girls star Kiely Williams based on the voice. Maybe that leopard in the clue video is actually a cheetah? Some other popular theories seem to be Christina Aguilera and LeAnn Rimes.
