Zendaya, Tom Holland React to Their Spider-Man Audition Tape

Zendaya and Tom Holland Giggle Over Their Original "Spider-Man" Audition Tapes

Way back in 2015, Tom Holland was an already successful young British actor and dancer, looking for the next big break in his career. That summer, he signed on to become the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man, and he was soon joined by Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. In a new video from Sony, the trio look back at their audition tapes for the movies.

Holland, it turns out, decided to lead into his audition by doing a backflip on to the screen, which resulted in him covering his face while Zendaya and Batalon watched the clip and giggled. Meanwhile, Zendaya called Batalon a "cutie" as they all laughed at his audition. And when they turned on Zendaya's tape, Holland said that she's the only one who was just "really good."

"I'd say they made a good decision," Zendaya said about the three of them getting cast. Their first film together was 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming." As of today, it's unclear what their future with the franchise looks like. The third film in the series, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," ended with the connection between the three friends severed. Sony plans on doing another trilogy of Spider-Man movies with Marvel, but Holland has said he's still considering what path he wants to take with Peter Parker. "I don't know what the future of Spider-Man looks like. I don't know whether I'm going to be a part of it," he told Extra in 2021.

Holland and Zendaya have both lined up plenty of projects for the future, though. He's attached to a Fred Astaire biopic, while Zendaya will play Ronnie Spector in a new film, appear in "Dune 2," and of course has a third season of "Euphoria" in the wings.
