Last night at the Metroplitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Gala, British model Agyness Deyn took a nod from Marilyn Monroe when constructing her beauty look. Her silver dress and platinum hair was a clear shout of to Old Hollywood, and her makeup also reflected a classical beauty look with hints of edgy and sexy as a modern twist (note her structured smoky eyes).
For step by step instructions and product suggestions on how you can re-create Aggy's look at home, read more.
- FACE: Agyness can pull off such a cheeky lip and heavy eye look because her skin is flawless and smooth. Before you begin applying any makeup, be sure you start with a clean and well moisturised face. First, apply a primer and then a touch of concealer under the eyes, around the mouth and nose and blend well. When you're finished, spread medium-coverage foundation with a brush all over your face, neck and décolletage and set with a pressed powder.
- EYES: Start by sweeping a white powder eye shadow from your lashes to your brows as a base. Using a crease brush, apply a deep grey shadow like Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Steel from the base of your lid to the crease and blend well. Add a touch more to the outer corners of your eyes and create an extended and dramatic wing that curves up slightly and stops at the end of your eye brows. Once you've finished, line your upper lids with a liquid liner like Rimmel Professional Liquid Eye Liner and blend it into the shadow whilst it's still a little bit wet. Then add white cream eye shadow to the inner rims of the lower lashes and to the inner corners of the eye. Fill in your brows with a dark brown or black pencil and brush them through. Lastly, curl your lashes, apply two coats of black mascara, a pair of fake lashes and you're finished!
- CHEEKS: Now that you've got a gorgeous primed canvas on your face and a set of killer smoky eyes, it's time to add bronzer and blush to warm things up. Choose a shimmer-free bronzer, apply it to your temples, cheeks, chin and nose using a fluffy large brush. Blend it well, making sure to really buff it out so that it doesn't streak. Then, sweep a medium-pinky-tawny blush like Pure Blush in Luxury to the apples of your cheeks and blend outwards, concenetrating on the widest part of the cheeks by the hairline. Next, add a luminizer between your nose and where your blush starts, to the center of your nose, forehead, chin and blend well.
- LIPS: As a finishing touch, apply a creamy baby-pink lipstick like Estee Lauder Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick in Sugar Honey with a lip brush so that the coverage is opaque and precise. Add a shiny and shimmer-free colour-enhancing lip gloss like MAC Tinted Lipglass in Underageon top and keep both colours in your purse for touch-ups throughout the night. Also pack a mattifying powder for your nose, cheeks and forehead.
