Get Ready to Travel in Style With Alexa Chung's Spring Collection

15/09/2018 - 03:32 PM

Alexa Chung's mission statement claims that she wants to create "clothes that people want to wear", so what you won't see at her show is the kind of edgy creativity that's prolific in other parts of London Fashion Week. This is wearable, practical, beautiful clothing for the grown-up cool girl [1]. The show's inspiration was travel, but it was more about the nostalgic glamour of airports in the mid-20th century than your holiday wardrobe. While there were a number of pieces that would slot perfectly into your suitcase (especially the orange jacquard dress, styled open over a crocheted bikini) it actually felt like it would work just as well for a mild British Summer: we saw long sleeves, suits, sweaters, heavy suede, and rain coats hit the runway. Colours were muted and autumnal, reminiscent of the late '60s and early '70s, and definitely the kind of thing you could imagine the designer herself wearing. Now fasten your seat belts for take-off, as you view the whole collection for yourself.
