The British Fashion Awards take place this evening celebrating some of the biggest names in fashion. The British Fashion Council announced the nominations back in September and have just revealed that Lee Alexander McQueen will receive a special posthumous award too. McQueen will be awarded with an Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design award at the ceremony in London.
A film will be shown created by Nick Knight and styled by Edward Enninful showing some of Lee's most iconic pieces. Nick commented, "This film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all."
McQueen died earlier this year and it has definitely been one of the most memorable and saddening stories of 2010. BFC chairman Harold Tilman stated, "There was only one person we felt we could recognise with this award this year – Lee McQueen.”
