Antonio Berardi Has Us Green With Envy
Antonio Berardi's palette was so strict this season that he showed only one bright hue in a collection that focused around black, white, and gray. Green was the shade of choice, a surprise given that the emerald shade most prevalent in the show was pantone's pick for last year. It appeared in sequins across the sleeves and back of a jacket, in a metallic fabric on a suit, and in a more matte form on cape detail coats and a long evening gown.
But perhaps the most obvious silhouette in the show was the minidress. The first looks were a series of thigh-skimming creations with long sleeves and nipped-in waists. Some had flippy hems, others simple pencil shapes. Many had printed panels or contrast trims or waistbands with spiky shapes. There were so many variations that finding the right little black-and-white dress (or indeed, little green dress) should be no problems at all. They should be topped, if Berardi has anything to do with it, with a sharp charcoal wool coat or longline blazer and teamed with the most dramatic footwear we've seen at London Fashion Week so far; over the knee lace-up boots with bows at the ankle and open panels up the front of the leg.
