These Awful Comments From a Former Hervé Leger Exec Will Shock You
Patrick Couderc, the managing director MJH Fashions, a UK distributor of Hervé Leger, has been fired after his controversial comments in which he insisted that women of certain shapes and ages should stay away from the brand's signature bandage dress.
"If you're a committed lesbian and you are wearing trousers all your life, you won't want to buy a Leger dress. Lesbians would want to be rather butch and leisurely," he stated. He also noted that older women, "voluptuous" women, and those with "very prominent hips and a very flat chest" should stay away from the designs.
Hervé Leger's bandage dress has been worn by a number of inspiring stars over the years, including Caitlyn Jenner, Laverne Cox, and Kim Kardashian, beautiful women who don't fit Couderc's ideals and shouldn't have to. While Couderc is not a spokesperson for Hervé Leger, his comments are completely offensive to the stunning women of all body types who have worn the brand's designs.
Read on to see some of the diverse and gorgeous stars who have worn Hervé Leger's body-con dresses, because no woman should be told what they can or cannot wear.
Update: Since the story was originally published, the company released the following statement. "The Hervé Leger by Max Azria brand and its parent company, BCBGMAXAZRIA Group, are shocked and appalled by Patrick Couderc's comments made in the Mail on Sunday. BCBGMAXAZRIA Group is working in concert with MJH Fashion, the London-based licensee of the Hervé Leger brand, to investigate and establish appropriate next steps. The statements made by Mr. Couderc are not a reflection of Herve Leger by Max Azria or MJH Fashion ideals or sentiments. The Herve Leger by Max Azria brand celebrates sensuality, glamour and femininity without discrimination." They also added that Couderac is no longer associated with the company.
