We Know It's Been Said Before, but Beyoncé Legitimately Looked Like Royalty at the AFI Gala

Beyoncé looked like she wafted right off a cloud when she arrived at the AFI Life Achievement Award gala in Los Angeles on June 6. The singer and star of the live-action Lion King remake [1] was in attendance to honour her friend and collaborator, music video director Melina Matsoukas. Though she may have been presenting an award, her regal look was worthy of its own trophy.

For the elegant event, Beyoncé wore a custom cream-coloured gown by Phuong My, which featured an an airy train, wide belt, and statement-making collar necklace also by the designer. She completed the look with gold ankle-strap heels, swirly Yvan Tufenkjian earrings, and a ring by Djula.

Most of Beyoncé's latest outfits have shared a similar neutral tone. While attending an NBA game the day prior, Beyoncé wore a monochromatic nude outfit [2] consisting of a shimmery Alexandre Vauthier top and skirt, which she paired with a Burberry trench coat. Meanwhile, at the Wearable Art Gala on June 1, she wore a custom Georges Hobeika jumpsuit [3] featuring a lion's face — an apparent nod to her forthcoming portrayal of Nala.

With the Lion King's June 19 release approaching, will Beyoncé continue to channel her character? One can really only hope, because she's looks damn good doing it. See photos from her latest appearance ahead.
