It Was a Supermodel Dance Party on the Brandon Maxwell Runway

Twirling models with beaming smiles aren't the norm on a New York Fashion Week runway, but at Brandon Maxwell's Spring Summer 2020 runway show in Brooklyn, a pulsating energy filled the room the moment Irina Shayk opened the show with an unexpectedly playful spin on the runway (in an impeccably tailored brown blazer, chambray shirt, and sleek leather pants, no less). On the heels of a poised Fall Winter 2019 collection where minimal gowns and refined separates glided down a pristine carpeted runway, the Project Runway judge re-visited his spirited side with a skilled spontaneity akin to his Texas-themed Spring Summer 2019 collection,

With a wooing audience that couldn't help but sway in their seats to the nostalgic soundtrack inclusive of a Like A Virgin and Believe remix, sexy-sleek suiting, vibrant dresses, and party-ready tops (which included what I think to be one of the season's biggest trends to far: cropped silhouettes with floor-length trains) filled the runway on the likes of supermodels like Bella hadid, Candice Swanepoel, Grace Elizabeth, Stella Maxwell, and Emily DiDonato (all of whom delivered full smiles and jaunty steps). To up the ante of the dynamic apparel, gemstone and enamel jewellery and belts, glittering "B" earrings, silky hair scarves, and oversize chainlink necklaces made a sophisticated statement while ultra-sleek carryalls, lucite evening bags, and strappy sandals felt perfectly tempered.

To top it all off, Maxwell debuted his first-ever men's collection alongside the exquisite womenswear, all of which came together for a confetti-filled finale with models holding hands in pairs and trios, and Maxwell closing out the show with his design team in tow for the final bow.

Ahead, witness the runway looks from Brandon Maxwell's Spring Summer 2020 collection, including close-up shots of the glittering jewellery, structured handbags, and more.
