Last week I got a little sneaky peek at the Chanel pop-up stores that have taken over the ground and third floors of Harrods. It's an amazing spectacle, which you would of course expect from Chanel and begins at the Hans Road entrance (door number nine). When you walk in you see the bags, jewels, and accessories collection created just for the three weeks that the exhibition is running. My favourite bag is this cute green patent shopper with a chain handle made by Chanel to look like a Harrods plastic bag. Moving straight ahead into the beauty floor, Chanel has created a five-piece collection of pink lipsticks, gloss, blusher, and highlighter — all of which are also limited edition that you don't want to miss out on.
If you think that's fun, just wait until you hit the third floor called Une Promenade de Chanel, which contains a seven-room homage to all of the different aspects of the fashion house. You have Coco's dressing room made to look like her apartment above her 31 rue Cambon store, a garden room created to look just like last year's fashion show in Paris, a video room dedicated to the 2.55 bag, a children's boudoir filled with photos and teddy bears all dressed in Chanel couture, Karl Lagerfeld's den, a Chanel N°5 room, and, finally, a ginormous 2.55 black purse, so big that it fills the room. My feet didn't hit the ground until I was well out of Harrods. It was so incredible. Definitely stop by soon, as it will all be taken down on at the end of September.
