Daks Spring 2014
Heritage is always at the heart of a Daks show, and the Spring 2014 collection was no exception. With a completely neutral palette of black, white, peachy beige, and tan, the collection was lifted with clever uses of the Daks house check. This was a grown-up, wearable collection aimed squarely at Daks' core shoppers, with a few fashion items thrown in to keep the LFW crowds happy. Key pieces included a pleated tan leather skirt, '30s-style beige slacks with a slim belt, a slouchy belted cape coat with checked panels, and a halter top with a tortoiseshell neck detail. The show closed with two contrasting evening gowns; one a heavy, full-length dress in oversized check with a tulle underlay, the other a slight subversive bride in an explosion of the same black tulle (veil included) with just a dash of check belting the empire waist.
