Over the past year and a half or so, my style has really evolved. After years of being all over the map, I've hit a minimal stride, favouring simple pieces like slip skirts, button-down shirts, dresses, and jeans. Perhaps it's the result of living in New York for almost 10 years, or the fact that since turning 30 I can no longer be bothered to dress impractically. Whatever the cause, when getting dressed each morning, I routinely default to a few easy outfit formulas for a fuss-free process. But to keep my looks fresh, I regularly seek out new versions of my favourite pieces, like this slip skirt from the POPSUGAR collection at Kohl's. Cute, yeah?!

At a flattering midi length, this sleek silhouette is a favourite of mine year-round, but for Fall, I love layering slip skirts over slouchy boots for a cool-weather spin. While my personal aesthetic very much centres around neutral tones like ivory, beige, and black, the colourful floral motif falls within my comfort zone of prints — especially when combined with honey-coloured extras like my textured Tory Burch boots and oversize leather button-down shirt from Ganni.

Now, I realise that this style of shirt might feel a bit bold if you're a simple dresser like me, but tailored leather pieces are a major trend this Fall. Plus, the classic button-down silhouette helps temper the impact of the fabric. I also love the fact that this shirt is meant to fit oversize, which takes some of the sweetness out of the flowery skirt and streamlines the feminine print (you know, if you're into that sort of thing).

With a bold berry lip — I'm wearing the Beauty by POPSUGAR Be Racy Liquid Velvet Lip in Boldly Go — and a tan bag, this outfit feels fresh, fuss-free, and decidedly Fall. Ahead, check out my look from a few angles and shop all of the pieces to try it out for yourself. Then, be sure to check back as we continue to bring you more easy Fall outfit formulas, from the newest dress trends to outfits centreed around boots and polished trends you can wear to work.
