Is Emilia Wickstead Trying to Get the Duchess of Cambridge to Wear a Crop Top?
Emilia Wickstead doesn't let Winter force her away from the pretty pastel colours that have made her such a favourite with fans like the Duchess of Cambridge. If Kate's looking for a modest dress to wear for her next royal engagement, she'll find one — maybe a a green design with pin-tuck pleats and 3/4 sleeves, or a blue printed midi dress with long sleeves and a touch of '70s boho. But overall, though she still wore a lot of pastel pink and powder blue, the Emilia Wickstead girl was a little bit more adventurous this season, baring her midriff, flashing her underwear, and taking the plunge with necklines.
We saw jeans, sequinned skirts, and velvet dresses, as well as many juxtapositions of print and colour, from a beautiful two-tone green coat, to an experimental dress with two faces — one side peacock blue, the other swathed with a sash of luxurious printed fabric. It was nice to see Wickstead mix things up, raise some hemlines, and show a collection that felt more youthful than previous ones. Of course, each piece could easily be adapted for those devoted socialite shoppers — a lining here, a modesty panel there, and even a duchess would be happy!
