Emilia Wickstead Gets Playful in Pink and Pretty in Prints
Emilia Wickstead is known for her voluminous coats, modest dresses, and chic colour choices, but for Spring 2016, she surprised us with some very modern touches. Cutout waists, flippy miniskirts, and crop tops had a fun, youthful feel, while bright and bold floral prints and pastel pink deck-chair stripes added femininity. Some of those dresses came embellished with whimsical beaded blinking eyes or were topped with bejewelled collars. Overall, the collection felt more playful than ever. Wickstead played with volume, be it through super slinky trousers with knitted vest tops, or huge heavy ballgowns with puffy sleeves. Dramatic capes in retro prints and mustard-coloured midi dresses harked back to the '70s, an era no designer seems keen to leave just yet.
