Emma Watson Says Playing Hermione Made Her More Interested in Fashion 2010-11-19 00:55:01

Emma Watson Thanks Hermione For Her Style

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is finally released across the UK today and I, for one, cannot wait to see it! The cast have been busy promoting the film on both sides of the Atlantic, including Emma Watson who always looks so chic. Emma definitely has been working a new look since she cut her hair, but she says she has one person to thank for this.

She told WWD,

"I have Hermione to thank, in a weird way, for my sense of style. Playing this role, fashion was my way of expressing myself away from that school uniform. When I got the chance to dress myself, I was so thrilled to be able to be Emma and show a different side of myself."

Indeed, anybody that has ever had to wear school uniform will feel some empathy with Emma I'm sure. I was always trying to find ways to make mine more individual! She has gone on to be the face of Burberry and to work with both People Tree and Alberta Ferretti. Emma added,

"Maybe I would never have been this interested in fashion if I hadn’t played that role for so long and sometimes felt so constrained by being identified with her so much. I mean, I just wasn’t allowed to do anything: wasn’t allowed to cut my hair, put on nail varnish, tan, wear a bra that made my boobs in any way look [larger], have any flesh showing, wear any makeup when I was playing Hermione."

It's interesting to hear Emma being so honest and it's such good news that she did find this sense of style! What do you think of these comments? Check out more stills from the film here.
