Erdem set the scene for his Autumn/Winter show with a catwalk surrounded by artfully placed backstage bric-a-brac and a score that wouldn't be amiss in an Old Hollywood film. As ever, Erdem's girl is an old romantic with modern tastes, and the collection began with his signature take on Edwardiana, with dresses that featured embroidered frills, appliquéd lace inserts, and geometric detailing with velvet embellishment. The show moved onto another era of glamour with tweed trouser suits and coats in cinched, '40s silhouettes with floral embroidery and short hems, paired with silver loafers. The designer ended the collection on a glamorous high, with the highlight being a fluffy cashmere jumper paired with a delicately tasselled, ankle-length skirt that was made for an effortlessly elegant red carpet appearance.
