Erdem Opens His Heart of Darkness For Spring 2015
Deep forest greens, inky blues, charcoal, and black may not sound like the foundations of a Spring collection, but throw in some white, lemon, and sky blue, and you may just be surprised. Erdem showed his collection in London today on a set designed to look like a forest, bringing a little gothic darkness to proceedings through heavy fabrications, rich embellishments, high necklines, and a generous dose of black, blue, and green feathers. But by decorating his looks with scattered pastel blooms and punctuating the show with laser-cut white lace dresses, he managed to stick to the seasonal brief.
Fashion fans will no doubt draw parallels with recent Valentino shows in the lacy, high-necked dresses; the intricate details; and even the setting. But lest we forget, Erdem has been the king of lace for a very long time. This was an accomplished collection full of intricately detailed designs that required a second, third, or fourth look to be truly appreciated. And even if you don't want the clothes, chances are you'll set your sights on the flat brogues or the knee-high lace-up sandals.
