Fab Flash: Alternative Fashion Week

Alternative Fashion Week took place in East London this week showcasing some of the UK's youngest design talent and raising money for Barnardos. The catwalk was situated in the middle of Spitalfields market, a haven for cutting-edge fashion and one-off pieces. As the week came to a close today we saw shows from upcoming designers Olga Yuzhaninova, Linzie Elliot and TRAID remade. Olga created a collection using sheer fabrics and body con styles. Linzie was inspired by the punk movement and clearly lists Vivienne Westwood in her inspirations. She incorporated the union jack flag in to a range of dresses with belt detailing.
TRAID remade create clothes out of recycled fabrics from old curtains and bedding. The clothes are then sold in their shops to raise money for developing countries. The line they presented today had '70s influences with high-waisted trousers, and dresses with frill detail.
