Fashion Definition of A-Line

Style Glossary: A-Line

A helpful fashion term to sling around when shopping around for the perfect wedding, special occasion or holiday dress is A-line.

The technical definition for A-line is a 1960's style skirt or dress that kicks out from the bust or waist to make an ‘A’ shape silhouette. The style is flattering on most body types, since it skims your body but doesn't cling. I find this shape especially suits pear shapes; those who have a narrow waist and a heavier bottom.

The silk printed dress shown here is See by Chloé (£248).
