Felder Felder Gets Furry For Autumn/Winter
With each new season, Daniela and Annette strive to drive Felder Felder forward. This season, with a collection titled "Like Another Lifetime," their desire to leave the past behind was more apparent than ever before. To the designers' own admission, "The Felder girl has grown up, but there are always notes of the wild youth in the knowing woman she has become."
Those throwbacks came in the form of a burgundy minidress bearing the skater silhouette for which the label became famous and a Gerhard Richter-inspired print that harked back to early collections that relied heavily on pattern. But the sisters have become more interested in texture over recent seasons, and this collection was the most adventurous yet when it came to form. From hairy evening gowns to quilted skirts, no piece was complete without some level of tactility. Metallic yarns, laser cuts, brick print leather, and organic prints all featured, with a colour palette derived from nature, with lots of cream and beige, green, and deep pink.
Silhouette-wise, the emphasis was on showing skin in an elegant way, with no shortage of cutouts, crop tops, backless dresses, sheer panels, and one-shoulder necklines. Long coats swept the floor, while short tulip skirts added extra padding at the waist. If there's one piece you'll want from this collection, it's a pencil skirt. You'll just need to decide whether to go for the stand-out rainbow print, a quilted moss-green number, or a textured burgundy design.
