I first noticed the trend during Stockholm Fashion Week where I saw tons of street style stars pairing their gorgeous silk dresses and printed skirts with a simple pair of flip-flops.
At first, I was confused by it but after staring at it for a while, I changed my mind and thought it was actually pretty refreshing. Why not keep it simple and comfortable when it's hot outside? Once NYFW started [2], we saw the trend make its way onto the runways too with designers like Amy Smilovic at Tibi sending models down the catwalk in polished suits [3] paired with black flip flops.
