There Were Supermodels For Miles at Giles Spring 2016
It was truly a supermodel affair at the Giles Spring/Summer 2016 show at London Fashion Week on Monday night. All model troupes were covered, from cool girls Binx Walton and Edie Campbell, to polished blondes Poppy Delevingne and Lily Donaldson, and British supers Erin O'Connor and Karen Elson — not forgetting girl of the moment, Bella Hadid. Dressing these otherworldly beings in a dark forest theme, designer Giles Deacon didn't shy from his signature inspirations of glamorous past eras and British woodlands. High-necked collars and puffed sleeves told the story of a young girl from the 1800s as she ventured into a forest of strawberry prints, 3D foxglove gowns, delicately torn fungi, and luxuriously moth-eaten finale dresses. Adding a hint of the modern day were pointed-toe heels with thick ankle straps and coloured orbs, proving that Deacon never forgets to inject a little bit of contemporary fun.
