The Surprise Star of the House of Holland Show Was Woody Woodpecker!
Henry Holland's Autumn/Winter 2017 collection was entitled "Daddy! Where's My Car," and just like back in 2014, he looked to American teenagers for inspiration. Back then, it was a dishevelled cool-girl prom squad, this time around she was a gasoline girl, paying homage to retro Americana and vintage motors.
Oh, and did we mention Woody Woodpecker? House of Holland shows are never just one thing, and along with those checkerboard prints, red white and blue stars, cowboy boots, and fringed flares, the screwball cartoon bird cropped up on sweatshirts, the back of utility jackets, and even on a pair of black and white over-the-knee boots. His silhouette sat in an intarsia pattern on a monochrome knitted jumper and on slinky pyjama pants.
As ever, when you break it down, House of Holland is all about wearable but adventurous pieces for girls with a sense of fun. How long until we see a pink "Bitches" hoodie in a street style pic? Or spy one of Henry's celeb friends sporting one of the striped furry coats? We give it a week.
