Dive in With Hunter Original's Contradictory Show For Spring 2015
Following last season's debut, Hunter Original showed its first Spring/Summer collection today at London Fashion Week, with Creative Director Alasdhair Willis fusing fashion and function in exciting new ways. The show was a hot ticket, with Willis's wife Stella McCartney bringing along her whole family, who sat alongside Anna Wintour, Chrissie Hynde, Rita Ora, and Jamie Campbell Bower in the front row. The show was staged at old swimming baths, kitted out with huge digital screens that showed trippy technicolour animations as models walked the mirrored catwalk in high fashion takes on Hunter's performance outerwear.
The standout piece was a graphic rain poncho that would actually make you cross your fingers for rain at music festivals. It came in the key print, inspired by painter Norman Wilkinson's "Dazzle," a new form of contradictory camouflage that seeks to confuse the viewer through optical illusions and distortion, rather than blending in. The result in the collection was modern and bright, shown in shades of lilac, khaki, tan, slate blue, and white. Sheer raincoats, shorts, and contrast-pocket shirts also stood out, as did the chunky clutch bags with cleated bases, and all manner of new rubber footwear options. If you thought the brand was just about wellies, you're in for a surprise!
