Jean-Pierre Braganza Spring 2014
We're calling pink as an early London Fashion Week trend. First J. JS Lee showed a series of grown-up bubblegum pieces, and then Jean-Pierre Braganza, a designer who usually sticks to a darker palette, chose to add copious splashes of pale pink to his print-heavy collection. There was a luxe sportswear feel running through many early looks, with wide white trims, stripes, and boxy cuts. Then came more feminine looks in greyscale prints with red highlights — a belted jacket with a slight shine was a particular highlight. Towards the end came evening looks, including androgynous cocktail dresses with tailored elements, and one standout black dress with a rise-and-fall hemline that hit the floor in a train at the back. It was a sharp, cohesive collection with a clear story to tell, and those prints just get better every season.
